The Accounting program offered by Baylor University involves training in written and oral communication development, teammwork, and critical thinking. The Accounting major prepares students for careers in accounting, auditing, budgeting, computer systems, financial management and taxation.

Students complete an internship during their senior year. Graduates find careers in private or public accounting firms, banking, management or computer information systems.

The undergraduate degree alone is particularly valuable to students who wish to pursue career opportunities outside of the field of accounting, yet desire the skills that are developed through the accounting program.

In addition to the ?functional accounting knowledge taught in the accounting core classes, faculty emphasize other skills required to succeed in an accounting career. While classes still involve lectures, the core accounting curriculum is taught in an active learning environment where faculty and students are engaged in dialogue. Students take more responsibility for the learning process, while faculty often serve as "learning guides."
