The Bachelor of Science in Education for Physical Education degree provides aspiring teachers with the knowledge and skills to develop and deliver quality K-12 physical education programs. University of South Dakota's curriculum aligns with South Dakota?s physical education standards and the National Association for Sport and Physical Education?s (NASPE) beginning teacher standards. Students pursuing a degree in this program receive content specific teaching methodology including effective classroom management models. Practical application and field experiences allow students to gain experience in the classroom setting and in local community school settings. Content methodology courses are required for both elementary and secondary levels and all students are required to pass a Physical Education Content Exam in order to be certified to teach in the state.
