Art educators inspire students around the world, playing a vital role in the lives of children and adults who are interested in art. The art education program at Valdosta State University equips students with the knowledge, skills and experience to become professional art educators or to enter a variety of other professions. Students majoring in art education at Valdosta State take many of the same core classes as students in the general art program but have additional opportunities to gain invaluable teaching experience that will shape their future careers.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is a professional degree program that prepares the student for competency in art and art-related careers and provides opportunities for further in-depth research and study in art and design. The various studio art programs consist of courses in the disciplines of: foundations/design, all levels of drawing & figure drawing, ceramics, graphic design, illustration & web design, animation, painting / mixed media and watercolor, jewelry / metalsmithing, photography (both digital and traditional black and white wet media), printmaking, sculpture, art history and art criticism, gallery operations and more.
