The health and exercise science major provides a study of the concepts and principles that form the foundation of total wellness. An HES major has the choice of three concentration areas with each being specifically designed to assist the major in preparing for their future. The three concentrations are: exercise specialist, pre-physical therapy and pre-sports medicine.
The exercise specialist concentration is designed to assist the major in becoming a personal trainer or organizing and administering health fitness programs in one of several settings including health clubs, corporations or medical facilities. The pre-physical therapy and pre-sports medicine concentration areas require attending a graduate professional program beyond the bachelor degree to become a licensed physical therapist or medical doctor.
