Students are admitted into Pre-Business and will apply to Marketing major through a competitive and selective process to gain admission.Marketing is the strategic process of developing and implementing products and services to meet the needs of existing and potential customers, at the same time leading the marketing organization to achieve its goals. Majors study the business and societal environment in which organizations must operate; the development of products and services; the management of pricing, sales, advertising and distribution policies; and the process of monitoring the success of marketing strategies and the satisfaction of customers.
The knowledge of accounting, economics, management, buyer behavior, business environments, market research, product development, distribution systems, pricing strategies, and advertising and promotion gained from a major in Marketing provides a solid career foundation. Graduates may work for small businesses, large corporations, manufacturers, or service providers, or they may find employment with marketing and consulting firms. This major is also excellent preparation for graduate studies in consumer sciences or business administration.
