This program is not intended to provide teacher certification. Students wishing to pursue teacher certification should explore the Elementary Education program with an Early Childhood Endorsement. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood is designed to be a continuation of the A.A. and A.A.S. in Early Childhood degrees (or equivalent) offered at accredited community colleges.

The knowledge of early childhood teaching methods and technique (in math/science, language/social studies, and creative arts/PE), early literacy, teaching exceptional children, guidance and classroom management, educational technology, mathematics for applied science, analysis methods, and field study, gained from a major in Early Childhood Education, provides graduates a solid career foundation to work for children ranging from birth to 8 years old. This non-teaching certificate program is designed to prepare students to work in teaching, child services, curriculum planning, and outreaching.
