The mathematics curriculum is both focused and flexible, with options that will prepare you for careers in government, business, industry and education, or further study in graduate or professional school.
The mathematics major offers four concentrations:
- Pure Mathematics Concentration — emphasizes abstract mathematics and is a good choice in preparation for graduate study
- Applied Mathematics Concentration — designed for students who wish to apply mathematics to problems in business and industry
- Actuarial Science and Risk Management Concentration — provides the necessary background and exam preparation for entry-level positions in the field of actuarial science
- Mathematics Secondary Education Concentration — prepares you to teach at the secondary level through the innovative Towson UTeach program
