The library media and information technology program endorses the American Association of School Librarians' Standards for the 21st Century Learner.?

The library media program supports candidates to be effective leaders in three major areas:

  • Learning and teaching
  • Information access
  • Program administration

School librarians are effective teachers, who design and implement instruction to help students inquire and think critically, as they gain and share knowledge. They promote reading for learning, personal growth, and enjoyment. School librarians model and promote ethical and equitable access to and use of information.?

In their communities, school librarians advocate for strong school library programs that focus on student learning and student achievement. Within the school community, the school librarian plans and directs a program that adheres to the best practices in librarianship, education, management, and administration.
