Sport Management majors can choose from a variety of cognate areas: Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Finance, Business Law, Communication Science, Sociology, Psychology, and Educational Leadership. A variety of required field work and internship opportunities help to develop students for careers in sport and athletic organizations.

Graduates of the program are prepared to pursue careers in intercollegiate athletics, facility management, professional sports, the sporting goods industry, private/public sport clubs, resorts, and event management. Some students choose to continue their education through graduate studies in sport management, law and business.

Within the program, undergraduate students are encouraged to become members of the UConn Sport Business Association. Over the years, the UConn Sport Business Association has helped Sport Management students gain hands-on experience in the field, in addition to providing ample networking opportunities.
