Students who major in French at Mount Holyoke may design their major around a particular topic, century, theme, or area?for example, French or Francophone studies, medieval studies, theatre studies, or gender/women?s studies. Majors work closely with their advisors to select courses, which might include courses in other Mount Holyoke departments or at one of the other Five Colleges. Our graduates use the analytical and expressive skills they acquire to succeed in a wide range of careers, including education, government, law, international banking, publishing, and marketing.

Students who have never studied French should enroll in French a two-semester course for beginners. Those who have previously studied French at Mount Holyoke and who wish to continue must have theprerequisites stipulated for specific courses.
