By emphasizing applied economics, the program encourages majors to hone their strategic thinking skills, learn to anticipate the unintended consequences of actions, and engage in consequential thinking about changes over time. By stressing oral and written communication and statistical analysis, the program encourages majors to acquire the skills necessary to communicate ideas. Economics graduates use economic tools to evaluate and pose reasoned solutions to multi-faceted, complex problems, as a result, they are in high demand in any field where decision making and reasoning are emphasized. Our bachelor's degree is an excellent springboard to an MBA or law degree. Our master's program prepares graduates for research and policy positions in government and business. Although we emphasize applied economics, we also provide students with the rigorous preparation necessary to pursue doctorates in economics.
