Our faculty boasts seven Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing and one Fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners – a most distinguished honor. Our faculty hold doctoral or post-doctoral degrees from the finest schools in the country. They publish widely in respected journals, preside as officers in national and international nursing organizations, and are skilled certified practitioners, specialists or executives.
Over the past four decades, the University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science has educated intelligent, skilled, and ethical nurse scientists, faculty, executives, military officers, and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses. USD has the only nursing school in San Diego and Southern California dedicated to graduate education, with over 2500 alumni, 308 of whom hold the PhD or Research Doctorate, and 100 the Doctor of Nursing Practice.
Graduates of a Master's Entry Program in Nursing are also eligible to apply. The program requires 3 years of full-time study; part-time study is also available. The curriculum ranges from 74-81 semester credits depending upon the focus of study and prior preparation. Graduates of the program will be eligible for national board certification.
