Dominican's Communication and Media Studies Civic Communication concentration defines how culture and communication shape, and are shaped by, our relations with the natural world.?Students focus on how people communicate about environmental concerns and effect social change from?grassroots to interest groups to government and beyond.?A critical look is taken on how cultural and communication processes and contexts produce perceptions of and practices toward nature and?a range of constitutional issues decided by the US Supreme Court are explored.
Students in the Civic Communication concentration become immersed in research and field work to learn how to critically examine issues and how to frame their own voices in the discussion along with crafting their message for public good through written word and radio broadcasting.?To develop these skills as advocates for civic responsibility, student projects engage contemporary issues.
