This 18-month program is especially valuable for professionals who have been promoted from a technical or tactical position and need to learn how to develop, inspire and lead with authority, as well as for experienced managers who wish to deepen their knowledge of the human side of management. Students examine and develop their managerial and leadership skills through coursework and a self-directed learning plan. They select an organization (usually their workplace) in which to apply their new knowledge throughout their study and receive continuous feedback from University of Redlands faculty and their peers. This continuous, supportive environment is a great way to grow as a professional and the collective feedback from multiple perspectives enhances the experience of what it is really like to be part of a business enterprise.
Students in the MA in Management program emerge as confident leaders and compelling speakers. Throughout the program, students must demonstrate their ability to understand and analyze management and organizational challenges. Based on their analyses, students create possible solutions and evaluate the appropriateness of their recommendations. They analyze their experiences from each course and integrate their insights into a comprehensive final presentation which often serves as a proposal for change in their workplace.
At the conclusion of the program, students reassess their managerial strengths and weaknesses and compare these results to initial assessments done when they entered the program. They reflect on their evolution as managers and develop new plans for continued personal growth.
