During professional coursework at The Bachelor of Science Athletic Training of Duquesne University, students engage in human cadaver dissection, and engage in a rigorous curricular plan, which exposes them to a variety of topic areas including the prevention and care of athletic injuries, diagnosis of injuries & illnesses, therapeutic exercise & modalities, pharmacology, nutrition, exercise physiology, and psychosocial issues in health care.
Clinically, our students have opportunities to gain experience with Duquesne's Division I athletes, and athletes from four other area universities, fourteen high schools, patients from five sports medicine clinics, and five professional organizations. All students gain clinical experience working with different patient populations and equipment intensive sports. Students also engage in a general medical experience with licensed physicians.
We recognize that our students have high aspirations for their futures as athletic trainers and health care providers. We strive to challenge our students everday in order to enable them to achieve their career goals and aspirations.
