Students learn through hands-on experiences how to write print and online news and features as well as present information through a variety of media. Students spend a semester writing for the award-winning campus newspaper, The Oklahoma Daily, an invaluable experience giving them a wealth of published material to show future employers.

A Journalism student graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree with the option of three separate tracks: print, broadcast, or multimedia.

Journalism students typically have interests in writing, reporting, copy editing, graphic design, multimedia and photography. They often are interested in people and are naturally curious. High school preparation should include courses in English and creative writing. Working in high school publications would also be beneficial, but not necessary.
