You can choose from a broad range of concentrations as you pursue your degree ? film studies, film production, documentary film production, screenwriting and industry studies. Our faculty ? directors and screenwriters, producers and editors, cinematographers and videographers ? will provide you with both a liberal arts grounding in the history, theory and practice of filmmaking, and invaluable insight into the practicalities of the industry.
You will develop a keen understanding of the processes and principles of picture production, an awareness of the multiplicity of ways in which technology works in the creative process, and an appreciation of cinema as the product of aesthetic, cultural, national and historical influences. You'll have the opportunity to intern at places like HBO, MTV, the Tribeca Film Institute, the Museum of the Moving Image and the Film Society of Lincoln Center. You'll also be able to participate in the Annual Brooklyn College Student Film Festival and attend workshops, film screenings, social events and informal visits from independent filmmakers sponsored by the Brooklyn College Film Society.
