• The MD/MPH joint degree program combines the YSPH two-year Master of Public Health degree with the School of Medicine four-year Doctor of Medicine degree. The joint degree program normally requires five years of full-time study, and both degrees are awarded simultaneously at the conclusion of the five-year period.
  • Joint degree candidates spend four years in the School of Medicine and one year enrolled at YSPH. Course planning for joint degree candidates should be carried out in consultation with the appropriate educational advisors at YSPH and the School of Medicine.
  • Medical students are required to complete the following YSPH related courses during their first two years of basic science coursework: Biostatistics, Health Care Policy and Financing, Professional Responsibility and Medicine, and Society and Public Health.
