The Hebrew Studies option emphasizes proficiency in the Hebrew language and the Jewish Cultural Studies option incorporates coursework from other disciplines with a focus on modern perspectives on Jewish culture and history.

The Program offers courses in both Modern Hebrew and Biblical Hebrew. The Modern Hebrew language cycle of courses includes two advanced courses, in which modern/contemporary Hebrew/Israeli literature and culture are taught in Hebrew, while the class analytical discussions are conducted in Hebrew and English.

These advanced courses cultivate and enhance students’ command of grammar as well as writing, speaking, reading, and comprehension skills. Further advanced Hebrew courses are conducted entirely in Hebrew.
