As part of your core curriculum requirements to become a teacher, you’ll take classes in critical thinking, literacy, mathematics, art and humanities, natural sciences, and the social sciences to help build your general knowledge.

While core curriculum develops your general knowledge in the areas of critical thinking, literacy, mathematics, natural sciences, art and humanities, and the social sciences; elective coursework explores the arts of language and literature in depth. Upon completion of this secondary teacher education program, you will be ready to seek certification to be a teacher in Kentucky. Students wishing to seek certification in other states should contact that state’s teacher certification granting agency for information on specific requirements.
