Teaching science is an extremely rewarding career that is also currently a high-demand profession. The science education program at UW-Stout will prepare you to teach science at the middle and secondary school levels. Every student in the program completes at least one major and one minor science teaching certification in broadfield science, biology, chemistry or physics.

As a high school student, you should complete four years of math and one year each of biology, chemistry and physics. College preparatory English and basic computer and communication skills will also be helpful in your preparation for college. We strongly encourage you to pursue instructional experiences like being a tutor, working in study groups and participating in extra-curricular activities involving science or teaching.
