- Messiah believes that teachers are problem-solving professionals. Their early childhood education major develops students' ability to solve problems and make decisions in critical areas of education such as instructional planning, instructional delivery, assessment, and classroom management.
- In addition to student's education coursework, they will develop a broad knowledge base by studying a wide variety of subjects such as mathematics, history, biology, literature, foreign language, psychology, and the arts. As an education student, students will also have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of an academic subject of their choice by completing a 12-credit disciplinary focus.

As a graduate of the early childhood education program, students will be equipped to secure positions such as:
- Public or private school teacher
- Nonprofit human services agency worker
- Graduate student
