What You'll Study:

Aside from the B.A., UK also offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a pre-professional degree that permits students to specialize in one or more media supported by the department. Students are accepted into the B.F.A. program by portfolio examination, a review that takes place after the student has completed the required foundation sequence (usually after the second year of study).  Those students also wishing to move on to advanced study in an M.F.A. program are best served by completing a B.F.A. as an undergraduate. This degree program culminates in a solo show: a public exhibition of the student’s artistic accomplishments.

In the more traditional B.A., students will gain critical skills for succeeding in today’s world, including the ability to work with still and moving images using the latest software. The curriculum is grounded in the manipulation of traditional media such as drawing, ceramics, and sculpture but also incorporates digital technologies and processes, including 3-D printing and fabrication. After completing our Foundations curriculum, students may hone in on a specific medium or explore a more intermedia approach to art making.
