Whether you have an interest in a teaching credential or a broad liberal arts education, the Christ-centered liberal studies, elementary education major prepares you to teach a broad range of subjects in PreK-12. Coursework focuses on methods of instruction that promote human development and learning. Highlights include:
- Participation in field experience in culturally diverse communities
- Application of math and science teaching strategies
- Investigation of theories and concepts of cognitive development
- Application of instructional practices for English language development
- Integration of cross-cultural literature for children
- Identification of special learning needs as well as skills to meet them
- Participation in field and observation work
- Acquisition of knowledge and teaching strategies in all subject areas taught in elementary classrooms
