The three-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in pre-professional programs from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is based upon the program outlined below. In the three-year program, the student must complete at least 90 prescribed credit hours while enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Bachelor of Science degree is granted upon satisfactory completion of the first year of study in Memphis.
The requirement for a major is waived for those taking their fourth year at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis. Students must complete the last 30 hours of credit in residence at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before enrolling in the College of Dentistry. Admission to the College of Dentistry is at the discretion of that college; admission to and successful completion of the program below do not assure admission to the College of Dentistry.
Although the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science is not required for admission to the College of Dentistry, most students accepted into the study of dentistry have the baccalaureate degree before admission. Therefore, pre-dental students are encouraged to plan to complete all requirements for the degree before enrolling in the College of Dentistry.
