The Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education (HPE) is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), fully approved by Georgia’s Professional Standards Commission (PSC) for P-12 teacher certification, and nationally recognized by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). Kennesaw State University is the only program in Georgia nationally recognized by NASPE.
The HPE program is designed to prepare health and physical education teachers at all grade levels (pre-kindergarten through grade 12). The HPE program requires majors to apply for program admission in order to begin coursework in the professional education sequence.
In order to be admitted to the Health and Physical Education (P-12) program, majors must apply to both the Bagwell College Teacher Preparation Program and to the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education. It is recommended that majors arrange to meet with an HPE Faculty Advisor each semester to assure that are on track to apply for program admission. To qualify for the HPE Cohort that begins each fall, please be complete the following applications by their due dates:
- Bagwell College of Education: February 15
- Health & Physical Education: April 1
