Students may plan their programs centered on theatre history and dramatic literature or on playwriting, either one with an optional component in dramaturgy. Opportunities exist for M.A. students to serve as dramaturg or assistant to the director of academic and professional productions. A thesis is required to complete the degree. M.A. students are subject to the General Graduate Academic Requirements of the University for graduate study.

M.A. candidates are expected to maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.
