Students who major in Sociology will have the technical and analytic skills and the global perspective needed to succeed in a variety of careers, such as: social services/public services; program support; management; education; marketing research; social science researcher.Sociology offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree. The primary difference between the two is the BA requires both a foreign language and non US History component, while the BS requires a more logic-oriented component (see BS requirements). In addition, for the BS in Sociology, students must also take Data Analysis (SOCI 3444).A student majoring in sociology must complete 30 credit hours of approved courses. In addition to maintaining an overall grade point average of at least 2.0 in the major, a student must earn a grade of C or above in each required course in the major. This major requires a minor.Students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences must meet the following requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree.
