The B.M.E. in Performance includes private instruction in the student’s primary instrument; ensemble opportunities varying in size and scope; instruction in standard music core subjects such as music theory, aural skills and music history; advanced topics such as conducting, modern music styles, and advanced music theory including orchestration and counterpoint; methods courses in all instruments; music education courses; and courses in the School of Education required by state certification boards. A cumulative recital showcases the student’s performance abilities in their senior year. The faculty includes pedagogues, performers, conductors and researchers with years of accomplishments in their field, with experience with major ensembles or individually in the concert hall.
