From our infinite galaxy to the finite particles that make up every living thing, physics is the most fundamental of all sciences. Concordia offers their students the distinctive opportunity to explore our created world in tandem with theology in an intellectually rigorous but faith-affirming setting.
The language of Physics is mathematics. Nearly one third of Physics students choose to double-major, with math being the most common focus. However, the laws of physics are applied to fields such as engineering, communications, biology, chemistry, and electronics as well. Many of the technologies we use daily, including digital cameras, microwaves, televisions, and the world-wide-web resulted from breakthroughs in physics.
Learning and discovery take a ?high tech-high touch? approach as students are given outstanding opportunities to be active participants in physics research on campus and even around the world. Specialty research areas on campus include:
- Chemical Physics
- Atomic and Molecular Spectroscopy
- Laser Spectroscopy
- Astronomical Photometry
- Interferometry
- Spectroscopy
- Medical Physics
- Environmental Physics
As a Physics major at Concordia, you will enjoy small classes where you are known and supported by students and faculty members in an academically rigorous environment where you are poised to excel.
