The College of Education is a community of curious scholars. We believe that great educators join their students in asking questions and investigating many possible responses, rather than insisting on just one “right answer.” Our Human Movement and Health Science Education (HMHSE) candidates study the latest research and thinking in the fields of athletics, fitness, recreation, and health, and then test those theories in numerous real-world settings.

The mission of the HMHSE program is to prepare educational leaders who promote quality programs for physical, health, physical activity, recreation, and sport programs in a variety of settings.

As an HMHSE student, you’ll complete a wide range of courses—from playing and coaching individual sports to dance and fitness—and receive focused attention from experienced faculty. Your field and clinical experiences will prepare you for work with children and adults in academic, health, and workplace settings. Our graduates are highly sought after by schools and fitness- and health-related organizations.
