M.S. students who wish to affiliate with the Therapeutics and Pharmacology Program are required to take?Principles of Therapeutics and one elective as part of the 12 hours of graded didactic coursework.
This course will establish a foundation of the principles of therapeutics. It will introduce students to principles and history of therapeutics and teach them where we are in drug development. The course is structured so that students get introduced to human genome and causes of disease. A session will focus on target identification, protein crystallography, molecular modeling, and structure-based drug design and medicinal chemistry that will include drug design, synthesis, optimization, lead product identification, and chemical synthesis of lead product.?
