Research goals within the department are to improve the performance and reliability of existing devices, as well as designing new systems around them.

Current Michigan Tech undergraduate students can earn a MS degree with just a single year of study beyond the BS through the Accelerated Master's Program.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering also offers programs with concentrations in energy systems, information systems, and solid-state electronics.
