Master of Science in Biology – Biotechnology is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
Students pursuing a BS in biology may choose to specialize in biotechnology. A selection of lecture and laboratory courses provides essential skills to students seeking employment in the field or who desire graduate work in this area.
This program provides advanced training for college graduates or professionals seeking careers in biomedical research, biotechnology, neuroscience or biodefense.
Students are required to successfully complete 30 credits for the program.
Students for the Biology, MS must complete the Core Courses and may choose one concentration or the MS without concentration requirements.

Academic Eligibility:

Students should have a baccalaureate degree in in biology or other relevant fields from an institution of higher education accredited by a Mason-recognized U.S. institutional accrediting agency or international equivalent.
A GPA of 3.00 in biology coursework or in the last 60 credits of undergraduate study is preffered.

Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.

Most students come to the United States on an F-1 visa, but students who are sponsored by the U.S. government, their home government, or another organization may be required to enter the United States on a J-1 Exchange Visitor's Visa. To be issued an immigration document (Form I-20 for F-1 status or Form DS2019 for J-1 status), students must prove they have sufficient financial support to cover their expenses while at Mason.
International students outside the United States may use their immigration documentation to schedule a visa interview with the U.S. embassy or consulate nearest their place of residence and apply for an F-1 or J-1 student visa.
