Whether you are interested in thinking for yourself on the great issues of human life, or you want to go on to graduate school in philosophy, or use your degree as a preparation for further study in other disciplines such as law or business, the ESU Philosophy program gives you a solid foundation.

The ESU Philosophy major provides students with critical thinking skills, exposes them to historical and contemporary world views, and helps them develop personal answers to questions about ethics, knowledge, reality, and religion. The department has special strengths in European Continental Philosophy, British and American Analytical Philosophy (especially Philosophy of Science), Political Theory, Asian Thought, and Comparative Philosophy.
