Theatre majors are expected to be involved in a production each semester. Close relationships with students and faculty arise from these rich experiences. In addition to classes and on-campus programs, majors are encouraged to take advantage of off-campus apprenticeships or study experiences during their junior year or first semester of their senior year. The OWU New York Arts Program provides excellent career-oriented experiences for those with acting, directing, design, production, or dance interests. Students focusing on theatre history or theory might consider opportunities in Europe.

The Department of Theatre & Dance at Ohio Wesleyan encourages students?beginning in their first year?to get involved onstage, backstage, and in the classroom. Within the context of the liberal arts, we offer pre-professional training in the traditional areas of acting and directing, dance, technical theatre and design, stage management, theatre education, playwriting, literature and history, and arts management.

Many students in our department double major in another discipline, such as English, Politics & Government, Economics, Health & Human Kinetics, Zoology, Modern Foreign Languages, and Psychology.
