The Hispanic Studies Department teaches the language, literatures, and cultures of the Hispanic world. Intermediate and advanced level courses stress linguistic competencies, critical thinking, and cultural and textual analysis. Our students develop a more nuanced understanding of the unique contexts in which Spanish, Latin American, and U.S. Latino literary and cultural expressions emerge and thrive.
We strengthen our students' critical and analytical thinking skills as well as their ability to form written and oral arguments in Spanish. Through our curriculum and advising, we help our students cultivate the fluent worldview necessary to thrive and contribute thoughtfully in our globalized world.
