The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures offers courses in German language, culture and literature. Students can complete their GE language requirement by enrolling in our German language sequence. For those students who are interested in continuing to more advanced levels of language and culture instruction, we offer a German minor and a German major. We also offer a wide variety of GE courses on German cultural and literary themes taught in English.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Acamedic Requirements:
- High school or secondary school official transcripts of the final four years (9 to 12) should be sent to Ohio State
- SAT or ACT scores should be submitted (Optional for 2023 admissions)
- Recommendation from a teacher or counsellor (optional)
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL (IBT): minimum 79 required
- IELTS or IELTS indicator: minimum 6.5 required
- ACT: minimum 21 score on the English section
- SAT: minimum 27 required on the reading section
- Duolingo: minimum 105 required
