The Department of Educational Psychology (EPSY) is the largest producer of special and bilingual education teachers in the State of Texas. Students are prepared to become state and national leaders across a variety of disciplines, and high-achieving faculty members use their research to impact the lives of people in Texas and around the country, specifically in the area of child and adult psychology.

As one of four departments in the College of Education and Human Development, EPSY is currently home to about 275 undergraduate students, 245 graduate students, 44 faculty, and 22 staff.

EPSY was established in 1969, during the creation of the College of Education. EPSY strives to promote and maintain collaborative teaching and research activity within the department and across the College and University. The 1977 Strategic Plan established a four-fold plan for the college in the areas of international activity, diversity, technology and high impact research and instructional programs.
