This major includes a core curriculum that provides students with a broad exposure to biology, chemistry, geology, statistics, and geographic information systems. More focused courses in Biology provide students with expertise in their emphasis area. The program integrates classroom work with field, lab, and research experience. Motivated students have the opportunity to obtain a double major in both Environmental Science and Biology.
The Environmental Science program has been purposely designed to facilitate a double major in Environmental Science and a degree from the department from which you obtain your concentration area. All students are strongly encouraged to investigate this opportunity as it will open additional employment and graduate school avenues. See an advisor from the appropriate department early and often if you are pursuing a double major! Scheduling is critical and can greatly speed your progress through the double major track.
If you take the double major, you do not need to take two capstones; however the only exceptions will be for students obtaining double majors in biology, chemistry, and geology who may use departmental capstones. Any substitutions require PRIOR written approval from the Department Chair.
