There are four paths for earning a Master of Landscape Architecture at University of Virginia.

  • VA. MLA PATH 3.0 

The MLA Path 3.0 program allows students from any background to earn an MLA degree in six semesters. No prerequisite courses are required to apply to this program. The curriculum follows a prescribed core of foundational courses carried out in three years and begins with our introductory Summer Design Institute (SDI).

  • MLA PATH 2.5 

The MLA Path 2.5 program allows students with a landscape architecture degree (or equivalent) that is not LAAB or LAAC accredited and students with an architecture degree (or equivalent) that is not NAAB accredited to earn an MLA degree in five semesters. At a minimum, students must have completed the following coursework:

3 landscape architecture studios

3 architecture or urban design studios

2 landscape architecture or theory courses

  • MLA PATH 2.0 ADVANCED 

The MLA Path 2.0 Advanced program allows students with a professional Bachelor of Landscape Architecture or Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture degree from a LAAB or LAAC accredited program to earn an MLA degree in four semesters. No prerequisite courses are required to apply to this program.

  • MLA PATH 2.0

The MLA Path 2.0 program allows students with a professional Bachelor of Architecture degree from a NAAB accredited program to earn an MLA degree in four semesters. No prerequisite courses are required to apply to this program.
