The Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) is home to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNC Charlotte. EPIC was built in response to the need from industry to supply highly trained engineers who will be qualified to meet the demands of the energy industry- through both traditional and continuing education- as well as provide sustainable support to the North Carolina energy industry by increasing capacity and support for applied research.
The 200,000 ft2 building, which has earned LEED-Gold standard certification, is host to state-of-the-art classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms and research laboratories. Among these are the High-Bay Structures Laboratory, the Pavement Materials Performance Laboratory, Water Resources Research Lab, and the Geosynthetics Research Laboratory to name a few.
