• The Master of Science (M.Sc) in Computing Science at the University of California is a 2 years program.
  • It is an on-campus, thesis-based program offered on a full-time basis.
  • The degrees provided by the department are:
    • Master of Science (MSc)
    • Master of Engineering (MEng)
    • Doctoral degree (PhD).
  • MSc degree program has two options: Plan I is a thesis option, usually, 2 years in duration, with a minimum of 20 units of course work plus research, and Plan II is a 9-month plan, including a comprehensive exam or project (paper) with at least 24 units of course work.
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) offers 2 programs of study for the MEng. CEE also offers three concurrent degree programs and two certificate programs.
  • Students in these degree programs select one of the following seven concentrations:
    • Energy, Civil Infrastructure and Climate
    • Engineering and Project Management
    • Environmental Engineering
    • GeoSystems
    • Structural Engineering, Mechanics, and Materials
    • Systems (Civil Systems)
    • Transportation Engineering
  • These degrees emphasize the application of the natural sciences to the analysis and solution of engineering problems.
  • All classes taught on the Berkeley campus by award-winning CEE faculty and provide maximum interaction with students and instructors.
  • The College of Engineering has about 40 research centers and institutes where students can get involved.
