The course of study provides graduate students with information necessary for developing modifications of a wide range of educational components such as content knowledge, methods of instruction, and assessment through adaptation of materials, processes, and research-based interventions.? Participants are provided with an opportunity to apply knowledge through practical applications. This degree program is aligned with standards developed by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC): Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES).

The M.Ed. Special Education program provides graduate students with:

  • a functional foundation in historical and current issues pertinent to the field of special education
  • curriculum modifications for instruction and assessment based upon theory, research, and exploration
  • opportunity to demonstrate competency and apply knowledge through practical applications
