A math undergraduate degree is also becoming increasingly popular as a stepping-stone to graduate study in a wide range of disciplines from business administration to oceanography. Several of our graduates are currently teaching in a number of middle and high schools around the region. Many others are pursuing graduate degrees in business?or mathematics.
To earn an undergraduate degree in mathematics, you will complete at least 120 semester hours total in general education and major courses.
The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics includes:
- A minimum of 44 semester hours, including 28 semester hours of required courses, 12 semester hours of selected electives and a 4 semester hour required computer programming course
- Students may personalize the major with a 12-credit-hour emphasis in:
- Pure Mathematics: For students wishing to pursue graduate studies
- Applied Mathematics: For students wishing to pursue careers in business and industry or applied graduate degrees
- Statistics: For students wishing to pursue careers in quantitative analysis or a graduate degree in statistics
