Biology is the natural science concerned with the study of living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, distribution, and taxonomy. The Department of Biological Sciences at Augusta University provides a broad education in the fundamentals of biology via the classroom setting and through hands-on learning in laboratories. Moreover, the department allows for specialized training by providing opportunities for students to participate in basic and applied research in ecology, genetics, microbiology, plant physiology, aquatic biology, cell and molecular biology, and more. We offer three distinct majors within the Augusta University Department of Biological Sciences: General Biology, Ecology, and a Cellular and Molecular Biology.
