Students can major in English with the following concentrations:

• Literature.This concentration may lead to careers that require skill in reading, writing, research, and critical thinking.
• Professional Writing and Rhetoric. This concentration prepares students for writing, editing and publishing careers in business, scientific, medical, governmental and nonprofit organizations; it also prepares students for graduate programs in English and law.
• Creative Writing. This concentration prepares students to write and publish poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction.
• Secondary Teacher Certification. This concentration is used for teacher certification in the state of Georgia.
