Graduates of this program protect our natural environment while producing the food, fiber, and resources that improve life for billions every single day.
PRODUCTION
In the production option, you’ll study food, feed, fiber, oil, forage, and bioenergy crop production. Courses will prepare you for a career with public agencies such as state cooperative extension systems or the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Our graduates are also hired by agri-life companies and farm-advisory agencies, such as soil testing laboratories and other private consultants.
TURFGRASS MANAGEMENT
Our popular turfgrass management option focuses on turfgrass production and maintenance for golf courses, sports fields, home lawns, and business turf. This academically rigorous option will also prepare you for graduate school or a career as an agricultural extension specialist, sales professional, or technical industry scientist.
SCIENCE
Our science option will provide you with a scientific base that includes courses in soil morphology, chemistry, and microbiology. This option will prepare you for a career as a researcher with agri-life corporations or state or federal agricultural research agencies. The science option is usually chosen by students who intend to pursue graduate degrees in any branch of the life sciences.
SOIL, WATER, AND LAND USE
Soil, water, and related resources are the foundation for land use planning and management in both rural and urban settings. Our soil, water, and land-use option provide the academic background for pursuing a career in soil science.
