Soka University of America International Student Admissions

For international applicants, the admission process does not differ much as that for the US applicants. However, additional requirements must be met by international applicants. They are as follows:

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Complete the application through either of the three modes and with fee payment
  • Candidate must acquire US high school equivalent diploma and official transcripts from each school/university translated to English from IERF and sent directly to the Office of Admissions of the University.
  • TOEFL - iBT minimum score of 80.
  • Two mandatory essays of 500 – 750-word length, for which the topics will be given in the application form
  • Two letters of recommendation.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

TOEFL iBT is accepted to demonstrate English proficiency for international students. The minimum required score by the university in TOEFL (IBT) is 80.

Visa Process for International Students

  • Form I-20 will be issued from the university to apply for the student visa once the financial stability documents are verified.
  • Applicants will need to provide the following documents to receive the Form I-20:
    • Copy of passport
    • Complete the required financial document
    • Sponsor letter, if available
  • Applicants then need to apply for the F-1 or J-1 visa. Submit the form and pay the application fee.
