• Mechanical engineers apply mathematics, physics, chemistry, and other sciences, together with computers, instrumentation, and other tools to create a wide range of hardware, software, and systems.
  • The undergraduate program at the University of New Mexico provides graduates with the necessary skills to compete in this rapidly changing discipline. In addition, the BSME provides a solid, scientific foundation for other degrees such as the MBA, MD, DDS, etc.
  • UNM ME students have the opportunity to work on energy and transportation projects ranging from racecars to high altitude balloon launches and from building efficiency to alternative energy systems.
  • Even our Mechanical Engineering building is an energy conservation lab designed by UNM faculty and students. The building offers hands-on lessons in the mechanics of thermal storage, energy efficiency, smart grid technology, and more.
